Guinness world record set with new Icontrol technology
Valcourt, QC, CANADA – June 22, 2009 - On June 19, Dale Vranckx, a Sea-Doo enthusiast broke the Guinness World Record for miles travelled in a 24-hour period, from sun-up to sun-down, on a PWC. Vranckx broke the record on a 2009 RXT iS, with 786 miles in 16 hours and 10 minutes, which eclipsed the current record of 642 miles in 24 hours set on a Sea-Doo GTI™ 130 in 2007 by Mike Pagliccia. Mike Pagliccia held the previous record, which he set on his Sea-Doo GTI SE. Pagliccia is looking to break his own record this summer, and “will go as far to say that [he] will go over 800 miles.” Use this link to read an interview that Boating World conducted with Pagliccia as he describes his latest attempt to break his own world-record: Boating World Interview.
Vranckx broke Pagliccia’s record on a 2009 RXT iS on Lake Erie in Ontario at Turkey Point. He broke the record on behalf of the charity to help fight teen suicide, YLC. YLC’s underlying mission is the prevention of suicide among teens and young adults. The charity does not focus on suicide but on the root causes such as depression, low self esteem, low self image and other causative factors. YLC helps to keep teens alive.
The 2009 RXT iS that Vranckx rode was equipped with iControl, and it featured a slew of firsts for personal watercraft: Intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR), the first on-water braking system; Intelligent Suspension (iS), the first full on-water suspension system; the S3 Hull, the first stepped hull design; and Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC), featuring the first true neutral, dock mode and cruise control. These iControl features, with which both of the new Sea-Doo RXT iS 255 and GTX Limited iS 255 models are equipped, increase reliability, control and smoothness of the ride, allowing Vranckx to break the record and in the most comfortable way possible!
